Yesterday was a super fun day for me because I was able to hand out medals to half-marathon finishers at the Stampede Road Race! This race consisted of a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and kid’s race, and had cash prizes for the top three in each group! It was a sold out race that was capped at 1950 participants, and the race this year supported the charity Can Praxis, an organization who works with Canadian Armed Forces veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I was a little worried about the weather in the morning – it was quite gloomy and there were even a few raindrops – but as the day progressed it got sunnier and it turned out to be quite a lovely day! It was a really fun experience to hand out medals to all the finishers, and I was really grateful for the opportunity. At one point I even heard the announcer talking about how “Miss Teen West Calgary is at the finish line handing out medals!” which was really cool! I felt a little bit like a celebrity 🙂
Congratulations to all of the runners who participated in the race – you all did amazingly! Thank you so much to Alan and the Stampede Road Race for having me and making this appearance so fun, and I will be sure to be back next year. To visit the website of the Stampede Road Race, click here.
